NEWSLETTER 9 | TERM 1 – 2020

Good day

Thank you for the parents that already brought their account up to date after receiving their statements.  If your fees are not yet paid, please do so immediately.  Remember that April 2020’s school fees must be paid by the 3rd of April 2020.

We now have the service of the following people available at school:

  1. Occupational Therapist and Speech Therapist – They help learners who struggle with Gross and Fine motor skills, attention, concentration, etc.  Once the teacher identified a serious problem and your child needs any help from them, you will receive a letter.  All costs are for the parent (you can claim from the medical aid).  The therapy can be done in school time at the school.
  2. We also have the services of a social worker available.  She can assist with:
  3. Crises intervention
  4. Anger management and conflict resolution
  5. Help children with appropriate social interaction skills
  6. To accept yourself and others
  7. Developing positive behaviour intervention strategies
  8. Assist parents and families

All costs are for parents.  Details are available at school.

We have so many learners that are very neat every day.  We are so proud of you.  We do ask parents to make sure their children are dressed according to the school rules.

All learners will start wearing Winter Uniform on the 1st of May 2020.  If your child does not have the correct winter uniform yet, please purchase it over the holidays.

This is becoming a huge problem at school.  Learners are watching age restricted movies or shows and play these games.  They then come to school and want to play it here as well.  We can’t allow “fighting play” or “boxing play” or whatever dangerous game to be played at school.

Please talk to your child about these things that they know what the consequences of this will be.

Please let your child watch age appropriate tv shows and play age appropriate video games.

In our last newsletter for term 1, all the important dates for term 2 will be given.  Please diarise these dates.

We do ask again that if your child is really ill, please keep him/her at home and take them to the doctor as soon as you can.  There are some learners that come to school ill and then parents are phoned to come and fetch them from school.  For hygienic and health reasons it is important to make sure all learners are taking vitamins to strengthen their immune system before winter is upon us.  If a learner must write a test or hand in an assignment please contact the teacher to reschedule and remember to hand in a medical certificate before a learner can re-write or hand in later.

School will be closing on 20 March 2020 for the learners at 11h00 and will be re-opening on the 31st of March2020 for Term 2.  Please make the necessary arrangements with your child’s transport for the day the school closes.  All learners using own transport must be picked up not later than 11h15 on the 20th of March 2020.

We have mentioned it in the previous letter about the Caddy bags that are a problem at school.  It is also in the diary that we don’t allow any Caddy bags at school.  They are very heavy and dangerous to other learners when changing of classes takes place.  They are huge and there are no space for learners to move in class if they stand in the passage, because they can’t fit under a chair.

As from next term NO CADDY’S WILL BE ALLOWED!!!!
