NEWSLETTER 7 | TERM 1 – 2024

Good day

SCHOOL FEES:

All learners did receive an account last week.  Make sure that your child’s school fees are up to date before the school closes on the 3rd of March.

TRAFFIC IN THE MORNING AND AFTERNOON INFRONT OF SCHOOL:

Life itself is in today’s life such a rush and it is then that we miss so many little things that are so important to us as a family.  Never drop your child at school in a rush.  Say good bye and make sure they are safely inside the school premises before you leave for work.  And this is the reason why we ask that you park in the designated area when you drop your child at school.  Don’t park in the driveway and quickly drop them off.

Let us consider all the road users when you drop off or pick up your child at school.  Don’t ignore the road signs and rules.  Make sure you stay in your lane and don’t stop in the middle of the road to drop or pick up your child when traffic is piling up behind you.  That is very unfair and that creates accidents and unnecessary problems that can lead to tempers flaring between parents or other road users.  We are examples to our children, so let us be the best example they will ever get.

Please convey the message to the aftercare and taxi that is transporting your child.  They need to obey the rules as well.

GANGS AND GANG RELATED BEHAVIOUR:

Do you know where your child is after school and over weekends?  Many learners are seeking help or advise from wrong places and people.  They are afraid to talk to their parents about issues that they carry with them.  These so called “helpers” are showing affection to them but with the wrong intentions.  This is how our kids get caught in a web which is very difficult to get out of.  They get introduced to drugs, prostitution, theft and many other illegal things which have them just drifting further away from real life and their families.  We hear on a daily basis about violence and murder on tv and on social media.  Please make sure that your child is not doing the wrong thing using social media or belonging to a gang.  Take their phones and check regularly what they say and to whom they speak, or what photos they have on their phones or tablets.

You are the parent and you are responsible for your child’s well-being.  Don’t let outside factors destroy your child and your family.  Please have a conversation with your child on a regular basis about the above-mentioned problems in our communities.  Violence is not a good example and we need to teach our children to talk to us as parents so we can solve a problem together.  Violence has never solved any problems; it just makes is worse.

Children need to be at home or under supervision when they come from school.  Don’t give adult responsibilities to a child – that is so unfair.

SCHOOL CLOSING DATE FOR TERM 1:

The school will be closing on the 20th of March at 10h00 for the holidays.  We will re-open again on the 3rd of April 2024.  Inform the aftercare/taxi that they are intime here to pick your child up at 10h00.   Please make the necessary arrangements for your children for the holidays that they are safe at all times.
