NEWSLETTER 7 | TERM 1 – 2019

Good day

SCHOOL PHOTO:

LAST REMINDER FOR PHOTO ORDERS:

Just a reminder that the last day to place your order will be on the 5th of March 2019.  We do ask that you put the correct amount of money for the order in an envelope with the order form inside with the money.

SCHOOL BAGS / CADDIES:

We did mention in a previous letter of 2018, that we recommend that you don’t buy a Caddy.  Reason being, it is very heavy and when learners changes classes it makes a huge noise.  Learners can’t carry the Caddy, because it is too heavy.  Learners always need help getting up the stairs, in and out of the bus and when it is raining, the Caddy can’t be picked up.

We have taken this matter up in our rules and regulations and will be published in the diary for 2020.  So when you buy a school bag again, don’t buy a Caddy.  They will not be allowed to use the Caddy at school.  We do appreciate your co-operation in this matter.

SCHOOL FEES:

It is almost the end of term 1/2019.  Time flies and we still have a lot to do.  This is just a friendly reminder to make sure that your school fees are up to date.  The school will be closing on the 15th of March and then your fees for term 1 must be paid in full.  April’s school fees must be paid before or on the 1st of April 2019.

BEHAVIOUR ON THE BUS:

We have spoken about this issue now ample times and still we have learners not behaving on the bus.  We took some of these learners that are creating a danger off the bus.  Some learners are very naughty and don’t listen to the driver or the bus prefects.  Such learners will be taken off the bus immediately.  We do ask you to speak to your child again about the behaviour on the bus or any other vehicle.  We can see the difference in some of our learners after their parents had a chat with them.

EXTRA CLASSES GRADE 12:

Our grade 12 learners are attending extra classes every afternoon and on some Saturdays as well.  We would like to make use of this opportunity and thank our grade 12 teachers that are going out of their way to help the grade 12 learners to achieve excellent results.  You are the best!!!!!

ATHLETICS GRADE 4 – 7:

On Wednesday, 27 February 2019, the grade 4 – 7 athletics team had a meeting against Christian Progressive College.  The learners enjoyed it very much and it was such a lovely event that was arranged by Teacher Rina vd Merwe.  The learners were well behaved and good ambassadors of Charlton Vos College.  Thank you to all the teachers that made the day possible and worked hard in the sun.

GRADE 11:  FUTURE EXHIBITION

The grade 11 learners visited an exhibition to help them choose the best option for their future.  There were many tertiary institutions and we hope and trust that all their questions were answered today.  They also know that they need to work very hard to be able to have a successful application next year.  Thank you to teacher Khomotso Kau who accompanied them.

SCHOOL UNIFORM:

Thank you to each and every parent that makes sure that your child is properly dressed when they leave home in the morning.  Every learner needs to be proud of their school uniform and school.  99,9% of our learners are extremely neat every day and we thank them for that.  You make us proud.  If your child is not having the correct PT uniform, please visit Silver Cross, Madelief Centre to purchase the correct uniform.

PERSONAL INFORMATION:

We are still having a huge problem with cell phone numbers that doesn’t exist or wrong numbers.  This makes it extremely difficult to get hold of a parent or relative in the case of an emergency.   We will not take any responsibility if we need you urgently and all the numbers are incorrect.  If your details did change and you did not yet inform the school, please send an email to the school with your child’s name, surname and grade and then the correct details ASAP.

DISCIPLINE IN CLASS AND AT SCHOOL:

Discipline starts at home.  We as parents need to be an excellent example in everything we say or do for our children.  The majority of our learners are well behaved and never set a foot wrong at school and we want to say thank you to these learners that are so well behaved at all times.  You make your parents proud.  But then there are the learners that are really disturbing lessons, that are huge discipline problems in class.  These learners are dealt with here at school, but it stays the responsibility of the parents to help us at school and discipline these learners.  We try our utmost best to help them but without the help of parents we are fighting a losing battle.

Many times the parents don’t know where there children are after school, and these learners are also neglecting their homework and assignments on a daily basis which leads to failure at the end of the term.

We do ask that you speak to your child and explain to them how important it is to be a well behaved learner at school, on the bus and after school.  Learners with discipline problems will not be registered for the new academic year at CVC.

GENERAL:

Time flies when you are having fun, they say.  Well there are only 2 weeks left before the end of Term 1/2019.  And there are still a lot to do before we can rest.  Make sure that your child did hand in all assignments and wrote all tests.  Marks will be compiled during the holiday and learners will get their reports early next term.  There will be no time when school re-opens for term 2/2019 to hand in any assignments or work related to term 1/2019.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. JS Diedericks
