All is running very smoothly here at school. Since day one our learners were busy and homework were given. All learners must have the necessary stationery and text books by now. If your child is still not having a text book, you need to purchase one ASAP. Learners must be thoroughly prepared for school every day.

DISCIPLINE:
We at Charlton Vos adhere to rules and we have a ZERO tolerance attitude when it comes to discipline. It is the responsibility of the parent to instil the importance of rules in the children. We have already phoned some parents of learners not behaving in class or being disrespectful towards other learners and teachers. We will not allow any child to dictate to us what to do.
DIARY:
All learners did receive a school diary. Please read all rules in the diary and make sure your child understands it.
COMMUNICATION:
We encourage parents to rather email or phone the school for any queries. If really necessary we will make an appointment with you only after school. Please communicate with the teacher or office, we can’t solve problems if we don’t know about it. If you would like to see a teacher or the principal, please mail the relevant person and make an appointment. All email addresses in previous letter.
If you need any information about a subject, homework or any other grade related issues, please send an email to the relevant HOD. They will communicate it immediately to the relevant teacher or they will answer you asap.
Teachers are not allowed to use their phones during school hours. So please don’t call them. If you need to speak to them, send a message or phone the office: 012 5270614. The office will give the message during break time or after school. If it is urgent, they will call back asap. No teacher will be called out of his/her class during teaching time.
HOMEWORK, ASSIGNMENTS, TESTS AND EXAMS:
Every assignment, homework assignment and test counts for the learner. If a learner is not doing well, such learner will stand a good chance to fail the year. Parents need to make sure they are thoroughly prepared for all of the above mentioned. At school we can only do so much to positively inspire the learners to do their homework or to study.
Please check in the front of all books for the assessment plan for the term. You can even sign that you have seen the plan and that your child knows that you will follow up to make sure that all work is handed in on time.
LIFE SCIENCE GRADE 10: BOTANICAL GARDENS
The grade 10 Life Sciences learners visited the Botanical Gardens for their project for term 1.
DATE: 11 February 2025
It is compulsory for every Grade 10 Life Science learner to attend. They enjoyed it very much and learned a lot from this wonderful opportunity.
VALENTINE’S BALL: (High school only)
The High School student council will be hosting a Valentine’s ball on Friday, 14th of February at school. We are looking forward to this event. Thank you to the student council and teacher involved that made it possible for the learners.
SCHOOL UNIFORM:
Please make sure your child is wearing the correct uniform every day. If they are not dressed according to the rules, the parents will have to pick them up to dress correctly.
GENERAL:
It is very important that you spend quality time with your child every day. So much is happening on social media and the outside world that have a huge influence on our kids these days. We need to make sure they don’t get involved in any strange activities that can get them into trouble. We as parents need to know our children so that we can immediately see if there is a problem in their lives. We at school are trying our level best to make sure they are not in harms way, but we don’t have any control over any learner once the leave in the afternoons. Parents, please make sure your child is safe at all times and address any behavioural problems immediately.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. JS Diedericks
Operational Principal
