Charlton Vos

Good day

“Welcome February, New Beginnings, New month, New start, new focus, New blessings.  Looking forward to more lessons and more laughter and dedications.”

All school fees for February 2018 must be paid on or before the 3rd of February 2018.  Late payments will result in penalties.  Learners behind in school fees will not be able to make use of the bus transport and drivers will get a list and those learners must be transported by their parents mornings and afternoons.

We at Charlton Vos College adhere to rules and we have a ZERO tolerance attitude when it comes to discipline.  It is the responsibility of the parent to instill the importance of rules in the children.  We have already phoned some parents of learners not behaving in class or being disrespectful towards other learners and teachers.  We will not allow any child to dictate to us what to do.

This is one of our biggest concern and headaches.  We do understand that some parents need their children to phone them when at home, but they are not allowed to use their cell phone on the school premises/during school hours.  If we find them disobeying this rule, the phone will be confiscated and can only be retrieved after 3 months.  Cell phones are becoming a huge hazard in our society and many children and adults have been caught in situations that lead to embarrassment or other worse case scenarios.   Parents need to check their children’s cell phones on a regular basis to avoid these above mentioned situations taking place.  We as teachers are doing our best to inform them about the negative sides of sending messages or looking at unsafe and harmful images and videos, but at the end it remains the parents’ responsibility to keep your child out of harm’s way.  When a learner is found with harmful or pornography items on the phone, such learner can be expelled immediately.  This is a bad influence for other learners in the school and we will deal with it in a very serious manner.  NO LEARNER MAY USE A CELL PHONE DURING SCHOOL HOURS OR ON THE SCHOOL PREMISES!!

The learners enjoyed the camp activities a lot.  We would like to say thank you to each parent that made it possible for his/her child to attend the camps.  We hope and trust that the learners will use the valuable information they got from the camps in their everyday life.  Thank you to all the teachers that went with on the camps.  We really appreciate your effort.

We do ask that upon arrival, parents must go directly to the register class or then the subject teacher they would like to see.

Please come on the days that is specific for a grade.  Other grades will not be here or they will be busy with extra classes or meetings.

It is so sad if we don’t take care of each other and each others’ belongings.  These learners of Charlton Vos are very fortunate to have parents that go the extra mile to put them in a private school where they can achieve the highest sport in life.  Sadly some of these learners are vandalizing the buses.  They break the windows by kicking against it, cut the seats with sharp objects and torn the seats.  There behaviour is totally unacceptable and apart from this they endanger the lives of the other learners in the bus and the bus driver’s.

To repair such breakage cost a lot of money even if you have insurance.

WE DO ASK THAT YOU SPEAK TO YOUR CHILD ABOUT BEHAVIOUR ON THE BUS OR ANY OTHER VEHICLE.  We will not tolerate any bad behaviour or damages caused by learners anymore.  Learners found guilty will be put off the bus immediately and WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE USE OF THE BUS TRANSPORT AGAIN.  We teach learners good manners and to uphold all moral values and norms.  We are a Christian based school and we teach them here to respect each other.

This is such a problem all over and once again we are also facing theft problems.  We do ask that you will speak to your child again about stealing.  We have experienced that learners know exactly who took what by are not coming forward to help us in this regard.  We are not going to tolerate any theft here at school.

The school, teachers, security and all other staff will not be taking any responsibility for any possession that was stolen.  We do our utmost best to educate and to help a learner try get stuff back, but most times without any avail.  All valuable items must be left at home to avoid such situations.

Charlton Vos College will be closing the 20th of March 2018 for term 1.  Please inform the own transport of this date.

On the 6th of February we had the wonderful opportunity to educate our learners of important aspects of life.

GIRLS of gr 5 – 12 attended a show at Akasia Connect from Gynoguard.  It was fruitful and each girl did benefit from the show.

BOYS of grade 5 – 12 attended a show at school.  They spoke to the boys about bullying, pornography and human trafficking which are all problems of today’s society.

We as school try our level best to invest in each learner’s future by not only teaching them about school subjects, but also about the important issues they will encounter during life.  Sometimes these lessons are far more important than book knowledge to enrich their lives.

That is why it is of utmost importance that parents need to be actively involved in their children’s lives every day and not only when the school phone to report a problem that occur at school.

The photographer will be here on the following days, and your child must be dressed in full school uniform.  Hair must be according to school rules on that day also.

After the photo day you will receive an order form from Johan Spies Photographers that must be completed and send back to school with the correct amount of money for your order.
