GRADE 12 PREPARATORY EXAM:
Grade 12 learners are now busy with their exam. We do ask parents to make sure their kids are thoroughly prepared for each paper.
Buses will leave at 14h00 every day and 13h00 on a Friday till school closes.
Grade 12 who come to school for extra classes and need help from teachers will come in full school uniform. All school rules still apply during the exam for grade 12 learners.
SCHOOL UNIFORM:
As from the 1st of September learners will be wearing summer uniform again. Make sure your child has the correct summer uniform and that the uniform fits them well. They grow extremely fast. Silver Cross has enough stock if you need to purchase new summer uniform for your child.
Make sure your child is properly dressed with the correct school uniform every day.
EVERY DAY ATTENDANCE:
All learners must attend school every day. There is no study leave for Gr R to Grade 11 learners. All parents must make sure that learners are at school every day.
There are still learners coming late for school. Such learners will have to stay in the waiting area at the main gate until the bell rings for the end of first period. Learners are missing a lot if they are not in class. But we can’t disrupt the class for one or 2 coming late.
MR DELIVERY:
No learner is allowed to order take aways. If it would arrive at school, security will not be responsible for accepting food. This is for security measures as well. Make sure you pack a healthy lunch for your child.
FIGHTING:
We suddenly have more fighting at school. Please talk to your child about fighting. We will not tolerate such behaviour at all. Learners that are fighting will be taken out and send to the waiting area at the security.
Social media, tv and other factors have a huge impact on our children’s lives today. They see such behaviour on platforms and think it is acceptable. But it is not. We don’t want a culture of fighting, negativity, rudeness, bad behaviour, etc. We need to create a culture of positive, happy children that will be adults that will excel one day.
This is something that needs to be talked about at home, at school, church so that our children can feel they belong, they are safe and discuss all problems with parents, teachers or other people they respect to help them.
CELL PHONES:
No child is allowed to use a cell phone at school. Some still use it and when we see then, they will have to hand it in. Some are using it for the wrong reasons. Please check your child’s phone or have it checked by someone who know how and what to check for.
