NEWSLETTER 22 | TERM 3 – 2019

Good day

We are a Christian based school with Christian values and morals.  We will follow these rules at school.  The diary is clear about rules and regulations, and if you are not sure, please read the diary.

STUDENT COUNCIL AND NEW HEAD LEADERS – HIGH SCHOOL:  2019/2020
The inauguration of the new leaders was on the 3rd of September 2019.  They were beautifully dressed in their new uniform for this glamorous event.  We are very proud of all of them and wish them well for the year ahead.

Head Boy Brandon Bitema
Head Girl Mulanga Rambevha
Deputy Head Boy Tumelo Kutumela
Deputy Head Girl Onalerona Ntsoko

Congratulations to all the leaders.  May God guide you and give you the necessary knowledge and wisdom to be an excellent leader.

SCHOOL UNIFORM:
All learners must wear the summer uniform now.  Please make sure your child is correctly dressed every day.  If you need to buy the school uniform, please visit Silver Cross, Madelief Centre, Pretoria-North.

AFTER SCHOOL – WAITING AREA:
Make sure that your child is picked up before 14h30 each day.  We don’t have an aftercare and security will not be looking after your child after school is out.
Please make the necessary arrangements. There are many transport and after care options that you can make use of if you can’t fetch your child by 14h30.  After school is out, the gates will be closed and learners will not be allowed back onto the premises.

NEW PAVING:
We have completed the second phase of a three phase paving project.  The 3rd phase can only be completed once the learners are done with exams in November.

NEW CLASSES:
We will be putting up 8 new classes during the December holiday.  These classes will replace the old classes for grade 4 – 7.

PLAY FIELD/AREA AT THE BACK OF SCHOOL:
We are busy with the quotations and plans to put extra paving and lawn at the back of the school.  We haven’t taken a decision yet on how the layout will be done, but we are busy working on it.

REGISTRATION FOR 2020:
If you did not send back your re-registration form to the office, please contact Ms Heidi van der Merwe urgently.  We only have a few spaces left in some grades. We would like to complete this process as soon as possible.

BUSES:
Children must climb the same bus every day.  If a child must for some reason climb a different bus, please give written permission so that the driver knows and drop the child off at the correct point.

SCHOOL FEES:
All school fees must be paid up to date on or before the 19th of September.  All learners will receive their statements next week before the school closes.  Make sure that your October 2019 fees are paid on or before the 3rd of October.  Fees must be up to date before due dates as stipulated above to avoid legal action.  It is almost the end of the year and you cannot fall behind in fees now.

THANK YOU to all the parents that pay their monthly fees on time.  We really appreciate it.

DISCIPLINE:
We are very strict when it comes to discipline.  We believe that learners that obey rules will also progress well in life and will reach the highest sport in life.  Discipline helps them also to do better academically.
We as school are doing our utmost best to instil good morals and values in our learners.   Parents need to take our hands and also speak to all learners about the good morals and values.
We have a ZERO tolerance rule at school.  NO CELLPHONES may be used on the school premises.  When a learner uses a cell phone, for whatever reason, it will be confiscated immediately.
Social media is a huge monster that are swallowing kids.  They have ruined so many lives already and your child can also be the victim of this.  Cyber bulling and other extremely dangerous stuff are doing the rounds on cell phones and our youth are falling for all the nonsense.  So please check your child’s cell phone regularly to avoid serious problems in future.
The school will also not take any responsibility for any lost, damage or stolen cell phone.

PREPARATORY EXAM:
The grade 12 leaners are still busy with the preparatory exam.  We hope and trust that they use their time constructively to do thorough preparation for the exam.

MATRIC FAREWELL:
The school only arrange the school farewell.  The school doesn’t take any responsibility for any other after party.  Parents must fetch the learners from school after the farewell.  Letters were given to grade 12 learners awhile back with all arrangements.

SCHOOL CLOSING DATE FOR TERM 3:
Charlton Vos College will be closing on the 19th of September 2019.  School will re-open again on the 1st of October 2019 for the last term.
