NEWSLETTER 20 | TERM 2 – 2026

Dear Parents

We hope and trust that you and your families are well.

As winter has arrived, we kindly ask all parents to ensure that learners are dressed warmly when coming to school. While we understand the need for extra warmth during the colder months, please make sure that your child is wearing the correct school uniform and not clothing in other colours.

Beanies:

Please note that only the official school beanie and plain black beanies are permitted.
No other colour or branded beanies may be worn as part of the school uniform.

EXAMINATION PERIOD

All learners are currently busy with examinations, and we trust that parents are encouraging and supporting their children to prepare thoroughly for every paper. A well-prepared learner is a confident learner. Please ensure that your child has sufficient time to study, revise their work, and get adequate rest during this important period.

THE IMPORTANCE OF READING

Reading is one of the most important skills a child can develop. We encourage all parents to make reading a daily habit at home. Buy or borrow books, magazines, newspapers, or any reading material that interests your child. When children read regularly, they improve their vocabulary, spelling, comprehension, concentration, and general knowledge.

Reading is the foundation of learning. A child who reads well is better able to understand instructions, complete assignments, and perform successfully across all subjects. Simply put, if a child can read confidently, they are far more likely to excel academically and in life.

HOBBIES AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Learners need activities outside of school to keep them engaged, challenged, and motivated. Many of our learners participate in sport and other school activities, which is wonderful. However, there are still some learners who are not involved in any hobbies or extracurricular activities.

Every child should have a hobby or interest that keeps both their hands and minds busy. Whether it is sport, music, art, reading, gardening, building models, dancing, or any other positive activity, hobbies help children develop important life skills, creativity, discipline, and confidence.

Children who are actively involved in hobbies are less likely to spend excessive amounts of time on their phones. They are more likely to enjoy productive activities than spending time aimlessly in the streets or shopping centres. Hobbies help keep our children safe, occupied, and focused on positive growth.

SPENDING QUALITY TIME WITH OUR CHILDREN

We would like to encourage parents to spend as much quality time as possible with their children. Every child needs love, attention, guidance, and encouragement from home.

Some learners come to school ready to learn because they receive love, support, and attention at home. Unfortunately, some learners come to school seeking attention that they may not be receiving elsewhere. In some cases, this can lead to disruptive behaviour, as negative attention may seem better than no attention at all.

Let us work together to ensure that every child feels valued, loved, and cared for.

Home and school should always be safe places where children feel secure, respected, and supported. By working together as parents and educators, we can help our children reach their full potential.
