NEWSLETTER 2 | TERM 1 – 2023

Good day

We trust that all is well and that all learners are now settled in.  Many made new friends and also have set some new goals for 2023.  We are so happy to see that our learners enjoy being between their friends again and also putting in effort into their subjects.  Let us take hands and help each of our learners to reach their goals and make a huge success of 2023.  Every child deserves to be happy and enjoy life.

We as Charlton Vos will raise our standard of education again this year.  We need to make sure that with the help of parents and teachers our learners will sail through life and will be able to overcome any problem no matter how big or small so that they will be able to contribute in a positive way to our beautiful country.

LATE COMING:

Late comers will be kept in the waiting area until the end of the first period.  Then they can go to class.  We don’t want to disturb learners while busy with a lesson.  Make sure you drop your child at school not later than 7h30.

TEXTBOOKS:

All learners grade 4 – 12 must have the correct books for every subject.  We know that some books are out of stock or on back order.  We will give time to get the books until end of January 2023.

Make sure that your child has all the books for the day in their bag before they leave for school.  It is best to pack according to the time table the evening before.  Some of the book shops did get stock.  You can also try shops like, Graffiti, PNA.  Some of their shops do stock school text books.

IMPORTANT FOR EACH DAY:

Learners must go to bed early; some learners are so tired that they fall asleep in the class.  All learners need to eat breakfast before coming to school.  This also helps with concentration if their tummies are full.

COMMUNICATION:

We encourage parents to rather email or phone the school for any queries.  If really necessary we will make an appointment with you only after school.  Please communicate with the teacher or office, we can’t solve problems if we don’t know about it. If you would like to see a teacher or the principal, please mail the relevant person and make an appointment.

Loadshedding has got a huge influence on everything, and that includes the telephone lines and cell phone towers.   So, it is better to send a mail if you don’t get through.

If you need any information about a subject, homework or any other grade related issues, please send an email to the relevant HOD.  They will communicate it immediately to the relevant teacher or they will answer you asap.

Teachers are not allowed to use their phones during school hours.  So please don’t call them.  If you need to speak to them, send a message or phone the office: 0125270614.

The office will give the message during break time or after school.  If it is urgent, they will call you back ASAP.  No teacher will be called out of his/her class during teaching time.

OWN TRANSPORT:

Learners using own transport will be accompanied to the main gate as follows:

Gr RR – Grade 3: 13h30

Grade 4 – 12:  14h00

Please notify the creche, taxi or after school that all children need to be picked up not later that 14h15 every day.  There will be no supervision for any learners after school.

If your child is making use of the bus transport, make sure you wait at the drop off point to get your child when they disembark the bus.  The driver can’t wait and can’t take any responsibility for your child once they are off the bus.  Make sure your child knows exactly where to get off the bus.

SCHOOL FEES:

School fees for January had to be paid already.  If you didn’t make the payment, please do so ASAP.  February 2023’s school fees must be paid by die 3rd of February.  Make sure you use the correct family code and banking details when you make a payment.

PARKING IN FRONT OF SCHOOL:

If you drop off or pick up your child, DON’T PARK IN FRONT of the neighbours’ gates.  They struggle to leave their houses if their gates are blocked by cars.
