NEWSLETTER 1 | TERM 1 – 2020

Good day

Welcome back after a well-deserved holiday.  We pray that you and your family will have a very blessed and prosperous year.  A warm welcome to all the new staff and the new learners.

GRADE 12 RESULTS 2019:

Once again we had a 100% pass rate.  The ONLY school in the district who could achieve that.  We had a 50% Bachelor’s degree pass, which is extremely good.  We had multiple distinctions and one of our learners had 6 distinctions.  We are very proud and know that the teachers and learners worked hard to reap the fruit of their effort.  Congratulations to all!!!!  We are also one of 104 schools in South Africa who had 100% pass rate from 2015 – 2019.

WEBSITE:

Charlton Vos has a website and we regularly update the website.  We do ask that you visit the website regularly to get the weekly letters.  You can request that the weekly letter is emailed to you every week.  We don’t give hard copies of general letters to learners every week, it will only be available on the website.  Website is: www.charltonvoscollege.co.za

UNIFORM:

Please make sure that your child is wearing the correct uniform.  It is available at Silver Cross, 248 Eeufees street, Pretoria-North.   For PT – Physical Training – they have to wear the Vossies Black Short with the PT golf shirt.  They can also wear the Charlton Vos tracksuit pants, which are available at Silver Cross, with the PT golf shirt.  They are only allowed to wear the PT uniform when the teacher tells them they will be doing exercises outside.

When a learner is not dressed correctly, such learner’s parent will be contacted to bring the correct uniform.  We will not tolerate incorrect uniform.

SCHOOL RULES:

Each learner received a school diary.  Please complete the front page with the correct personal information.  Make sure that you and your child obey all the school rules.  Your child must have his/her diary in their bag every day.

LATE COMING:

We do ask that you make sure that your child is at school on time every day.  School starts at 07h40 (first bell).  We start with Period 1, and if you child is late they lose work.  Register period will be before break.

Late comers will be kept in the waiting area until the end of the first period, and then when bell rings be send to class.  They will miss the first period, because we can’t have learners entering the classes when teachers are busy with lessons.  Teachers must stop and learners are losing concentration and it makes it very difficult for teachers and learners.

SCHOOL HOURS:

Monday – Thursday07h40 – 14h00
Fridays07h40 – 13h00

Learners who uses own transport (crèche, taxi, aftercare, parents) must be picked up from school not later than 14h30 (Monday to Thursday) and 13h30 (Fridays).  Please make the necessary arrangements with the person that will pick up your child so that they are not late.  The school, management and directors do not take any responsibility for any learner after school is out every day.  The security are not after care, and therefore will not look after your child after the above mentioned times.

INTERHOUSE:

The Intermediate phase had there Inter house Atletics meeting on the 23 of January.  They enjoyed it very much and there are so much talent.  Thank you for the effort from teacher and learner sides to make it a very successful day.

Grade 8 – 1224 January 2020
Grade 1 – 327 January 2020
Grade R30 January 2020

The learners must wear the PT uniform for the athletics meetings.  Please let them put on tekkies with the PT uniform.  Remember to apply sunblock and put in extra water.  Also let them wear the Charlton Vos red sport hat (available at school).

SCHOOL FEES: All school fees must be paid by die 3rd of each month.  We will not be able to carry learners that did not pay school fees.  Registration and January 2020 fees had to be paid already.  Parents that did not pay it yet will have to do so before Monday 27 January 2020 to avoid the space being cancelled.  All parents signed a contract that stipulate the rules and regulations regarding payment of fees clearly.  Therefore we will have to cancel the space if fees are not up to date.  February 2020 school fees must be paid by the 3rd of February 2020.  All learners did receive a statement on the 23rd of January 2020.

HOMEWORK:

All learners get homework, and it is the responsibility of the parent to make sure that all homework will be done thoroughly every day, also that learners will study for tests and complete tasks and assignments.

GRADE 9 LEARNERS 2020:

As you know we have 3 grade 9 classes and only 2 grade 10 classes, which will not be changing in the near future.  We will be sending home a very important letter about the process from grade 9 to grade 10.  An sms will be send to inform you when the learners receive the letter.

MESSAGES:

We do ask that you please make all arrangements regarding transport, shops etc with your child before he/she leaves for school.  It becomes very difficult for office personnel to keep on conveying messages the whole day.  Only in case of emergency we will gladly convey the message.

GENERAL:

We hope and trust that you will have a wonderful year and that your child will excel in his/her grade.  We strive to do our best, but we always need the parents to help us.  Good luck for the year.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. JS Diedericks
