Good day Parents,
The examination period officially started on Wednesday for the Grade 12 learners with their Tourism PAT examination. The rest of the High School learners will commence examinations on the 22nd of May, while the Primary School examinations will start on the 1st of June.
The term is quickly drawing to an end, and this is now the opportunity for all learners to give feedback on what they have learned throughout Terms 1 and 2. Examinations are a clear indication of what each learner has accomplished during the terms and how well they have mastered the work presented.
For learners in Grades 9, 10 and 11, the examination results will also serve as an important indication of whether they are capable of continuing with certain subjects in the following year. Should a learner struggle to achieve at least 60% in a subject in the exam, it may be advisable to reconsider subject choices and future options. Teachers will also guide and advise both learners and parents where necessary.
We kindly request all parents to support and encourage their children during this examination period by helping them to study, stay focused and achieve the best possible results.
JUST A REMINDER AGAIN ABOUT MATHS:
MATHEMATICS SUBJECT REQUIREMENTS
Parents are kindly requested to take not of the following important requirements regarding Mathematics.
Grade 9:
Learners must obtain a minimum of 45% in Mathematics at the end of the year in order to continue with Mathematics in Grade 10. Learners who do not meet this requirement will unfortunately not be allowed to continue with Mathematics and will be required to take Mathematical Literacy in Grade 10.
Grade 10 & 11:
Learners who do not achieve at least 45% in Mathematics by the end of Term 1 will be required to change to Mathematical Literacy from Term 2. This decision will be taken in the learner’s best academic interest, as the mathematics curriculum becomes increasingly demanding as the year progress.
We strongly encourage parents to monitor their child’s academic progress closely and to ensure that learners prepare thoroughly for tests and complete all assigned work.
Should a learner experience difficulty with Mathematics, they should seek assistance from their teacher as soon as possible.
Please note that this is an academic requirement and school policy, and exceptions will not be made. Parents and learners are therefore urged to take these requirements seriously and at proactively to ensure the necessary standard is achieved.
OPEN DAY:
Saturday, 30 May, is Open Day at CVC. Please help us spread the word so that we can welcome many prospective learners and parents to our school to experience what we have to offer. This is for new students and parents only.
We will be here from 08:30 until 12:30. New parents and learners can look forward to a fun-filled morning with something to eat and drink, while enjoying the experience of walking through the school and visiting our facilities.
We are looking forward to meeting all new parents and learners. Come and join in the fun!
MOTHER AND SON EVENT:
The Foundation Phase is hosting a mother and son Event on Saturday, 23 May, at Ave on Iris. We hope that everyone is ready for a wonderful day filled with fun and special memories. Enjoy the day and create lasting memories together.
SCHOOL FEES:
All school fees from January 2026 to May 2026 must now be paid in full. June 2026 school fees must be paid on or before 3 June 2026.
Please ensure that your account is fully up to date to avoid further action being taken.
Unfortunately, we can no longer allow accounts to accumulate outstanding balances.
Parents have an obligation towards the school and are expected to uphold their part of the contract strictly.
HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILD AVOID A STRESSFUL EXAM PERIOD:
- Ensure your child gets enough sleep every night.
- Provide a quiet and structured study environment at home.
- Encourage regular study sessions instead of last-minute cramming.
- Make sure your child eats healthy meals and drinks enough water.
- Encourage short breaks between study sessions.
- Motivate your child positively and avoid placing unnecessary pressure on them.
- Check that all stationery and examination requirements are ready beforehand.
- Keep communication open and encourage your child to ask for help where needed.
- Very important: Limit cell phone time !!!!!!
