Good day to all parents
The past two weeks have been extended, and our learners have truly benefited from the additional hours. This extra time allowed us to catch up on work in preparation for the week during which the school will be closed.
School will resume with normal hours on 4 May 2026.
Thank you for your support in making this possible. While many schools will also be closed during this period—some having extended their hours and others not—at Charlton Vos we remain committed to giving our very best and ensuring that no learning time is wasted. Teaching and learning are priorities that we take seriously and cannot afford to neglect.
WINTER UNIFORM:
As from 4 May 2026, all learners must wear full winter school uniform. Regular inspections will be conducted to ensure that all learners adhere to the rules regarding winter uniform.
DETENTION FOR HIGH SCHOOL:
Please note that there will be no detention this coming Friday. The next detention session will take place on 8 May 2026 from 13h15 to 15h15, under the supervision of Teacher Marget.
OPEN DAY:
Please help us spread the word that our Open Day will be held on 30 May 2026. It promises to be an exciting and enjoyable day as we showcase what we offer at Charlton Vos College. We currently have space available from Grade R to Grade 9.
Unfortunately, there are no spaces available for Grades 10 to 12. Placement is on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage interested families to secure their space as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
GRADE R CLASSES:
Grade R is a crucial phase in the development of a child. During this year, learners are exposed to a world of discovery where they experiment, explore, and develop essential skills needed for Grade 1 and for life. Our Grade R teachers are deeply committed and consistently give more than 100% to ensure that each child receives the best possible start to their school journey.
Grade R is not only the foundation for academic growth, but also an extension of the home environment, where important values, routines, and social skills are nurtured. We are proud to say that our Grade R learners consistently demonstrate a high standard of readiness when progressing to Grade 1. When compared to learners from other crèches or schools, our learners stand out in both ability and confidence.
This is made possible by our excellent support team, who work closely with our young learners to ensure they are well-prepared, confident, and ready to step into the “big school” environment.
SPORT FACILITIES:
We are delighted to inform your that Charlton Vos College has successfully acquired the adjacent property next to the school. This marks an important milestone in our long-term vision for growth and development and is especially significant as we celebrate our 30-year milestone.
Over the coming years, and in line with our financial capacity, this newly acquired land will be developed to include dedicated sports facilities as well as additional parking. Beyond organised sports, the space will also be used during break times and for Physical Training (PT), offering our learners access to larger, more versatile grounds.
This will greatly enhance the overall school experience. The development will also support improved parking arrangements and create new opportunities for hosting school events.
This is an exciting step forward for Charlton Vos College. We look forward to sharing further updates as development progresses.
DISCIPLINE:
We would like to thank the parents who partner with us in reinforcing the importance of discipline. Our learners are often a reflection of their homes, and many are shining examples of strong values and positive parenting. We truly appreciate those learners who are well-behaved, well-mannered, helpful, and respectful towards both adults and their fellow learners.
Unfortunately, there are a few learners whose behaviour is disruptive and disrespectful. Such attitudes hinder the teaching and learning process, and this kind of behaviour cannot be tolerated at school or on the bus. Learners need to understand boundaries and the importance of adhering to school rules as well as the expectations of life beyond school.
We therefore ask parents to actively support us by guiding and monitoring their children, especially regarding social media usage. Excessive or unsupervised use of social media can have a negative influence on behaviour and attitudes. Your involvement in this area is essential in helping us maintain a disciplined and focused learning environment.
STAND OUT AND NEVER SETTLE FOR SECOND BEST:
At Charlton Vos College, our learners have consistently proven themselves to be among the best. We are proud to nurture individuals who demonstrate loyalty, intelligence, creativity, and strong leadership skills. Our learners excel across a wide range of activities, including academics, drama, athletics, choir, and sport.
They do not only participate—they achieve. Many of our learners reach top levels in their respective sporting codes and cultural activities, representing the school with pride and distinction. This culture of excellence continues beyond school, with our alumni performing exceptionally well at tertiary institutions.
Our FET teachers are highly skilled and dedicated, contributing to outstanding Grade 12 results year after year. We consistently achieve excellent overall performance, with a high number of distinctions across all subjects and an impressive number of Bachelor’s Degree passes.
