Good day to all parents
It has been a very different past weeks with the pandemic that is taking different twists and turns in the world. But we are still thankful that we are healthy and did wake up this morning.
COVID-19 IMPACT:
With the virus now spreading again rapidly, after careful consideration, we have taken the discission to go back to group 1 and group 2 alternate teaching again as from Wednesday 2nd of June. We will only accommodate 50% of the class every day. But if you have a serious problem, you can make arrangements with the class teacher. This is an arrangement ONLY FOR GRADE 4 – 9.
GRADE RR – GRADE 3, will NOT COME IN GROUPS. All grade RR to grade 3 learners must be at school every day.
Due to the fact that many learners are absent for different illnesses and reasons, we have decided to put grade 10 to 12 learners back on online teaching as from 3 June until 11 June. They will remain at home and online teaching will take place every day from 8h00 until 14h00. Make sure that your child remains at home and go on with the work. They must all be back at school on the 14th of June when the test series starts. That will give every one enough time to recover.
If a child is sick during the test series, they need to hand in a letter from the Doctor. If not, they will not be allowed to re-write and will receive a “zero” for the test.
All learners need to back at school, 100%, the day we re-open for the third term – 19 July 2021. Then there will be no more groups.
PARENT DAYS:
Thank you for all the parents that responded on the invite that they have received. We hope and trust that you will make sure that your child study and do home work every day. Learners at risk will have to work much harder during the test series.
If you still need to speak to a teacher, please do so telephonically. We will be minimizing the number of people visiting school for health and security reasons.
MASK:
School masks are available at school. Every one must wear a mask at all times. If you wear a shield, you must wear a mask as well. Sanitize or wash hands regularly.
Make sure your child has an extra mask in his/her school bag.
ILL/SICK LEARNERS:
If your child is not feeling well or is ill, please keep him/her at home. Contact the teacher and arrange that your child’s work will be send via email for you. Learners that show flu/cold symptoms must also stay at home. There are too many parents that are sending children to school that are coughing. We can not diagnose a learner therefore we call the parents to take an ill/sick learner to the doctor.
CELL PHONES:
We ask that children DO NOT bring phones to school. No one is allowed to use a phone at school. Any call must go through the office. Please see diary for rules.
BUSES:
This is now an ongoing problem. If this continues, we will have no choice but to permanently remove disruptive learners from the bus. Such learners will then have to use own transport to and from school every day. Children don’t sit still. They run around, play games etc. They must sit still on their seat. Please help us and explain to your child the consequences if they don’t follow the rules. It is such a disappointment to see that some learners don’t have any respect for other people and property. It saddens us to know that there are a handful of learners that are disruptive, and parents are not taking our hands to help these learners on the right path to do the right things.
EXAM/TEST SERIES:
All our learners will be writing a test series at the end of this term. We need to test their knowledge on term 1 and 2’s work. Charlton Vos teachers and learners worked very hard from the beginning of year and did complete all the work for term 1 and 2. We did not leave out any work, because of the pandemic. Our learners will be 100% prepared for life.
The exam will be in the form of a test series and learners need to see the importance of studying hard and doing well. A learner that doesn’t meet the minimum requirements will not be passed at the end of the year. They need to achieve it themselves.
The test series for grade 8 – 12 will commence on the 14th of June 2021. Learners will be informed about the test arrangements beforehand. Grade 4 – 7 already started with their test series.
Let us all be part of the circle of caring and keeping each other safe and healthy. If we look after ourselves, we also look after each other. We can beat this pandemic; we need to keep on praying and believing. Our Lord is Almighty.
Regards
