Everything is full steam ahead at school, and our learners are working extremely hard. As a staff, we are doing our very best to ensure that each and every learner is well prepared for the upcoming June examinations.
However, we kindly ask for your support from home as well. Your involvement plays a vital role in helping your child reach their full potential. Please encourage them to stay focused, complete their tasks, and prepare consistently.
CHANGED SCHOOL HOURS FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS
As mentioned in our previous communication, the school day will end one hour later for the next two weeks. Kindly make the necessary arrangements for your child’s transport.
Learners using private transport or taxis must please ensure they are collected no later than 15 minutes after school dismissal.
PUBLIC HOLIDAYS AND SCHOOL CLOSURE
Please take note of the following dates:
- 27 April – Public Holiday
- 1 May – Public Holiday
- School will be closed on 28, 29, and 30 April
SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media has become a growing concern for both parents and children. Many learners are exposed to content that they are not yet mature enough to fully understand or critically evaluate.
Children often struggle to distinguish between what is real and what is not, and may follow trends or information blindly. This can make them vulnerable to misinformation, peer pressure, and even dangerous situations.
We urge parents to actively monitor their child’s social media use. Please speak to your children about responsible online behaviour, the importance of thinking critically about what they see, and the risks involved in sharing personal information. Open communication at home is key to keeping our children safe and grounded.
WINTER UNIFORM
The weather has certainly been unpredictable, with all four seasons in one day! Please take note that full winter uniform will be compulsory from 4 May 2026.
A full uniform inspection will be conducted to ensure that all learners comply with school rules.
If your child is in need of any winter uniform items, please make use of our lost and found. We have a large amount of clothing available free of charge. Our storeroom is overflowing—please feel free to make use of this resource and save on costs.
PARENT DAYS
We would like to thank all parents who attended the recent parent sessions. Your involvement is greatly appreciated.
We encourage all parents to remain in regular contact with teachers to monitor and support your child’s academic progress. If you were unable to attend on the scheduled day, please arrange an alternative appointment with the relevant teacher.
It is of utmost importance that we work together to ensure the success of every learner.
MATHEMATICS SUBJECT REQUIREMENTS
Parents are kindly requested to take note of the following important requirements regarding Mathematics:
Grade 9:
Learners must obtain a minimum of 45% in Mathematics at the end of the year in order to continue with Mathematics in Grade 10. Learners who do not meet this requirement will unfortunately not be allowed to continue with Mathematics and will be required to take Mathematical Literacy in Grade 10.
Grade 10:
Learners who do not achieve at least 45% in Mathematics by the end of Term 1 will be required to change to Mathematical Literacy from Term 2. This decision will be taken in the learner’s best academic interest, as the Mathematics curriculum becomes increasingly demanding as the year progresses.
We strongly encourage parents to monitor their child’s academic progress closely and to ensure that learners prepare thoroughly for tests and complete all assigned work.
Should a learner experience difficulty with Mathematics, they should seek assistance from their teacher as soon as possible.
Please note that this is an academic requirement and school policy, and exceptions will not be made. Parents and learners are therefore urged to take these requirements seriously and act proactively to ensure that the necessary standard is achieved.
PEER PRESSURE
Peer pressure is a significant challenge facing many of our learners. Children often feel the need to fit in or be accepted by their peers, which can lead them to make poor choices or engage in risky behaviour.
This may include experimenting with harmful substances, engaging in inappropriate behaviour, or neglecting their schoolwork in order to gain approval from others. These decisions can have serious and long-lasting consequences.
We encourage parents to have open and honest conversations with their children about choosing friends wisely and standing firm in their values. Learners should feel confident to say “no” and understand that true friends will respect their decisions.
Building strong self-esteem at home helps children resist negative influences.
OPEN DAY
We are excited to announce that our school Open Day will take place on Saturday, 30 May 2026.
We encourage all parents to spread the word and invite friends, family, and neighbours to come and experience what our school has to offer. More information will follow in our next letter.

DETENTION
Please take note that there will be a detention session for high school learners on Friday 17 April, from 14h15 to 15h15. Detention for the 17th will be under the supervision of Teacher Roenette. If your child has been scheduled for detention, it is compulsory for them to attend.
Non-attendance will result in automatic rescheduling for the next session.
Please make arrangements for your child to have their own transport home after detention, as supervision will not be provided after 15h15.
We appreciate your cooperation and support in ensuring your child attend the scheduled detention.

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE
We are proud to share that Rehiloe Molosi, a Grade 9 learner, has been selected to participate in a professional production of Alice in Wonderland. This is a remarkable achievement and a wonderful opportunity for her to showcase her talent on a larger stage.
We are always delighted when our learners excel beyond the classroom and pursue their passions with dedication and confidence.
