LATE COMING:
We are experiencing serious problems with learners coming late for school. School starts at 7:45 and we ask that learners be at the latest 7:40 on the school grounds. Learners coming late will be kept in the waiting area, until the end of period one. Demerits will be given to these learners coming late.
SICK / ILL LEARNERS:
We do ask again that if your child is really ill, please keep him/her at home and take them to the doctor as soon as you can. There are some learners that come to school ill and then parents are phoned to come and fetch them from school. For hygienic and health reasons it is important to make sure all learners are taking vitamins to strengthen their immune system before winter is upon us. If a learner must write a test or hand in an assignment, please contact the teacher to reschedule and remember to hand in a medical certificate before a learner can re-write or hand in later.
SCHOOL UNIFORM:
Make sure your child is correctly dressed every day. Learners that are wearing the wrong uniform will be kept in the waiting area so that parents can bring the correct clothing for them.
Remember that learners CAN NOT WEAR PT CLOTHES IF THEY DON’T DO PT THAT DAY. Also, not during exams.
Boys must be clean shaven and girls’ hair must be tied back, no arm bands around their arms except a watch. Boys are not allowed to wear ear rings (even under beanie) Nothing around their necks. No other jewellery will be allowed.
Please check your child’s diary for the correct school uniform and appearance.
DISCIPLINARY LETTERS:
Please take note of the disciplinary process and when disciplinary letters are issued on p21 in your childs’ school diary. It is not possible or feasible for the school to send a SMS for every offence the learners commit.
Remember – The ultimate responsibility for learners’ behaviour rests with their parents or guardians.
JUNE EXAMINATIONS:
Learners will receive they exam timetables in the next few days, we ask that you please encourage your child to study hard.
SCHOOL EVALUATION FEEDBACK:
Firstly, we want to thank all the parents that participated and sent back the school evaluation questionnaire that was sent to them, we as school appreciate it.
After going through all the forms that was returned, we want to report the following:
- Toilets:
Some parents complained that the toilets are not clean. We are trying our utmost best to keep the toilets in a healthy and clean condition by cleaning them at least three times a day. You must keep in mind that there are hundreds of children using these facilities every day, and we are sad to report that some learners still have to be taught how to use the facilities in a bathroom.
- Sport/after school activities:
At this stage we do not have any sport facilities available as we had to expand the number of classrooms and the rest of the grounds are used to park the busses. We do encourage learners and parents to join outside sport clubs or activities, we as school do give credit for any official achievements the learner achieves at these clubs or groups.
Because of transport problems that parents’ and learners experience it makes it difficult to nearly impossible to keep learners behind after school for any activity.
- Term reports:
Some parents complain that they receive reports too late or not at all. We as school need to wait for the signing off of the marks by the district officials, but we always send out reports by the second week in the new term. We realise that many learners do not hand over their reports to their parents/guardians.
- Assessments:
Each child has an assessment plan in the front of each of their subject workbooks. Their marks will be written next to each assessment that they have completed. There might be a difference in the final calculations due to the weightings that the DBE applies to each assessment task.
We cannot send the assessment tasks home due to the fact that it must be filed in the learners SBA file and kept as proof of assessment completion.
- Meetings:
After the term reports have been handed out for the previous term, parents’ meetings are held with the individual learners’ parents. Should you as parent wish to see a teacher at any other time, you can arrange an appointment with the individual teachers.
- Career guidance:
Every year we arrange different universities and colleges to come and address the learners and provide them with information regarding career choices and study opportunities.
- Homework:
There were complaints that the learners are given too much homework, this will be discussed with the teachers.
- Bus parking:
The busses come into the school grounds every day and remains parked here for the whole school day. Sadly, there is no other close and safe parking available for the busses. Unfortunately, during the rainy season, it can become very muddy and during the dry season it can become very dusty.
We had to complete the building of new classes and other important projects therefor the bus parking was placed on the back burner.
We are entering the planning process to address this issue.
It is a very expensive and time-consuming exercise, but be assured that we are attempting to address this issue as soon as possible.
- General:

OWN TRANSPORT:
Learners using own transport will be accompanied to the main gate as follows:
Gr RR – Grade 3: 13h30
Grade 4 – 12: 14h00
Please notify the creche, taxi or after school that all children need to be picked up not later that 14h15 every day. There will be no supervision for any learners after school.
If your child is making use of the bus transport, make sure you wait at the drop off point to get your child when they disembark the bus. The driver can’t wait and can’t take any responsibility for your child once they are off the bus. Make sure your child knows exactly where to get off the bus.
CELL PHONES OF LEARNERS:
REMEMBER – NO CELL PHONES ALLLOWED TO BE USED AT SCHOOL
We do ask that you as parent check your child’s cell phone on a regular basis. Some of the learners have explicit stuff on their phones that they either took themselves or was sent to them by someone else. Your child can land up in a lot of trouble if this kind of material is found on their cell phone. We encourage parents to talk to their children about the usage of the cell phone. We as school don’t have any control over what is on learners’ cell phones and can’t take any responsibility for what learners are sending around. This needs to be dealt with by the parents themselves. Remember – Parents are ultimately responsible for what is on and done on their children’s cell phones.
SCHOOL FEES:
Please make sure that your school fees are up to date. If you did not send the proof of overdue account, please do so immediately. You can send it to fees@cvc.africa. Please make sure you use the correct family code when making a payment.
No family code – No allocation to account of learner.
