Dear Parents and Learners,

As we begin the new academic year, we would like to warmly welcome all learners back to Charlton Vos College. We trust that everyone is refreshed and ready for a productive and successful year ahead.

This year, we commit ourselves to working hard, obeying school rules, and helping one another as we strive to reach the highest goals set for the year. Together, we aim to create a disciplined, respectful, and supportive learning environment.

RESULTS: Grade 12 Class of 2025,

On behalf of Charlton Vos College, we would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Grade 12 Class of 2025 on your excellent academic results.

Although Charlton Vos College did not achieve a 100% pass rate, we are extremely proud of every learner who passed. Your determination, resilience, and commitment to your studies have resulted in a remarkable overall pass rate of 98,44%, which is an outstanding achievement.

We are especially proud of the way many of you took the advice and guidance of your teachers seriously, particularly when making subject choices that aligned with your strengths and future goals. This wise decision-making has played a significant role in your success and will continue to benefit you as you move forward in your academic and career journeys.

Your achievements speak volumes:

  • Pass rate: 98,44%
  • Total Bachelor passes: 74,22%
  • Number of distinctions: 101

We would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our dedicated teachers for their hard work, commitment, and unwavering support. Their passion, guidance, and countless hours of effort have played a vital role in helping each and every learner reach their goals. The success of the Class of 2025 is a true reflection of their dedication to excellence.

Congratulations once again on a job well done.

Punctuality is very important. All learners are expected to be at school on time every day. Learners who arrive late will be required to wait in the waiting area until the next bell rings, after which they will be allowed to proceed to class.

Please take note of the following school times:

  • Learners may be dropped off at school from 06:30 in the morning.
  • The first bell rings at 07:40, at which time all learners must move to their classes.
  • Register starts at 07:45.
  • The first period begins at 08:00.
  • School closes at 14:00 from Monday to Thursday.
  • On Fridays, school closes at 13:00.

It is very important that all learner and parent information on our school records is 100% accurate. In case of an emergency, the school must be able to contact parents or guardians immediately. If your contact details change, please inform the register teacher and email info@cvc.africa.

Each learner will receive a school diary containing all school rules. Parents must complete and sign the personal information section in the diary. For Grade R to Grade 3 learners, the diary is also an important communication tool between parents and teachers and must be at school every day. Parents are encouraged to go through all the rules with their child. Register teachers will explain the rules during the first three days of school.

All learners will receive a timetable for Monday to Friday. Please ensure learners pack the correct books for each day. All learners must have the required stationery and textbooks immediately so that homework can be completed and learners do not fall behind.

Important information will also be shared on the Charlton Vos College Facebook page. Parents are encouraged to check the page regularly. The weekly school letter will be posted every Thursday. Please ensure that you are registered on the school website to receive the letter weekly.

School accounts will be emailed monthly. Please ensure that your email address is correct. All accounts must be paid by the 3rd of every month. When making payments, please use the correct learner code so that payments are allocated correctly. Some learners may share the same name and grade, and the learner code helps us avoid errors. It remains the parent’s responsibility to ensure payments are correct. Please check your statement monthly.

If you would like to see a teacher or any other staff member, please make an appointment. Teachers are not allowed to meet parents during teaching time. Appointments may be made before school, during break time, or after 14:00. Teachers will not answer phone calls during teaching time, but messages may be sent and will be answered as soon as possible. Parents may also contact the school office, who will forward messages to teachers. It is of the utmost importance that teachers remain in class at all times to teach.

Bus Transport:
For information regarding school transport, please contact Osiame Shikoane on 079 087 1672. He will provide details regarding bus routes, pick-up, and drop-off points. Buses operate on specific routes and are not allowed to change routes for safety and security reasons. All traffic rules must be obeyed at all times.

Parents who transport their children themselves must collect learners no later than 14:15 from Monday to Thursday and 13:15 on Fridays. The school has no aftercare or security supervision after these times and cannot take responsibility for learners after collection times. Parents must make arrangements with aftercare services or taxis, who must collect learners from inside the waiting area.

IMPORTANT: CELL PHONE AND SMART WATCH FREE SCHOOL

Charlton Vos College is a cell phone and smart watch FREE school. We are here to learn, play, and make a success of every day.

We are fully aware of the dangers associated with cell phones, including exposure to inappropriate content and harmful or sinister messages. Excessive cell phone use also hampers learning, affects concentration, and prevents learners from completing tasks properly. Many learners also forget the basic skills of play and social interaction.

We kindly ask parents to ensure that learners do not bring cell phones or smart watches to school and to also monitor and limit excessive phone usage at home. Too much screen time has many negative effects on children’s development.

We ask parents to take our hands in this matter, so that together we can guide our children back to playing with friends, talking to one another, laughing together, and building real relationships. Human interaction is essential for healthy development, and a cell phone cannot replace this.

Please speak to your children about the dangers of cell phones and help us create a safe, focused, and joyful learning environment.

We would also like to remind all learners that wearing the correct school uniform every day is compulsory. Proper uniform reflects pride, discipline, and respect for our school.

We look forward to a successful academic year and thank parents and learners for their continued cooperation and support.

Yours sincerely,
Charlton Vos College Management
