NEWSLETTER 1 | TERM 1 – 2019

Good day

Welcome back after a very nice deserved holiday.  We pray that you and your family will have a very blessed and prosperous year.

A warm welcome to all the new staff and the new learners.

Once again we had a 100% pass rate.  We had a 78% Bachelor’s degree pass, which is extremely good.  We had multiple distinctions and our previous head girl Lebogang Molapo had 7 distinctions.  Many other learners had 6, 5, 4 and 3.  We are very proud and know that the teachers and learners worked extremely hard to reap the fruit of their effort.  CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!!!!

Charlton Vos College has a website and we regularly update the website.  We do ask that you visit the website regularly to get the weekly letters.  You can request that the weekly letter is emailed to you every week.  We do not give hard copies of general letters to learners every week, it will only be available on the website.  Website is:

Please make sure that your child is wearing the correct uniform.  It is available at Silver Cross, Madelief Centre, Pretoria-North.  For PT – Physical Training – they have to wear the Vossie black short with the PT golf shirt.  They can also wear the Charlton Vos tracksuit pants, which are available at Silver Cross, with the PT golf shirt.  They are only allowed to wear the PT uniform when the teacher tells them they will be doing exercises outside.

When a learner is not dressed correctly, such learner’s parent will be contacted to bring the correct uniform.  We will not tolerate any incorrect uniform.

Each learner will receive a school diary.  Please complete the front page with the correct personal information.  Make sure that you and your child obey all the school rules.  Your child must have his/her diary in their bag every day.

The primary school will be having their athletics on Wednesday, 16 January here at school.  Learners must bring their school bags to school, because it will be a normal day if it is going to rain.

The high school will be having their athletics on Tuesday, 15 January here at school.  They must bring their school bags to school.  Normal school hours on both the days.

All school fees must be paid by die 3rd of each month.  We will not be able to carry learners that did not pay school fees.  Registration and January 2019 school fees had to be paid already.  Parents that did not pay it yet will have to do so before Monday 14 January 2019 to avoid the space being cancelled.  All parents signed a contract that stipulate the rules and regulations regarding payment of fees clearly.  Therefore we will have to cancel the space if the fees are not up to date.

February 2019’s school fees must be paid by the 3rd of February 2019.  All learners will receive a statement on the 25th of January 2019.

All learners get homework, and it is the responsibility of the parent to make sure that all homework will be done thoroughly every day, also that learners will study for tests and complete tasks and assignments.

As you know we have 3 grade 9 classes and only 2 grade 10 classes, which will not be changing in the near future.  We will be sending home a very important letter about the process from grade 9 to grade 10.  An sms will be send to inform you when the learners receive the letter.

We do ask that you please make all arrangements regarding transport, shops etc with you child before he/she leaves for school.  It becomes very difficult for office personnel to keep on conveying messages the whole day.  Only in case of emergency we will gladly convey the message.

We hope and trust that you will have a wonderful year and that your child will excel in his/her grade.  We strive to do our best, but we always need the parents to help us.  Good luck for the year.

Yours sincerely,
Mr. JS Diedericks
Operational Principal
