NEWSLETTER 1 | TERM 1 – 2017

Good Day

Welcome back after a very nice long holiday.  We hope and trust that 2017 will be a great year for all.

GRADE 12 RESULTS 2016:

Once again we had a 100% pass rate.  Charlton Vos College is second in the district.  Most of our learners passed with a bachelor’s degree and the others with a diploma.  We are very proud of our learners and teachers.

WEBSITE:

Charlton Vos College has a website and we regularly update the website.  We do ask that you visit the website regularly to get the weekly letters.  You can request that the weekly letter is emailed to you every week.  We do not give hard copies of general letters to learners every week, it will only be available on the website.

UNIFORM:

Please make sure that you child is wearing the correct uniform.  It is available at Silver Cross, Madelief Centre, Pretoria-North.  For PT – Physical Training – they have to wear the Vossie black short with the PT golf shirt.  They are allowed to wear a black track suit pants, no printing on with the PT golf shirt.  They are only allowed to wear the PT uniform when the teacher tells them they will be doing exercises outside.

When a learner is not dressed correctly, such learner’s parent will be contacted to bring the correct uniform.  We will not tolerate any incorrect uniform.

SCHOOL RULES:

Each learner received a school diary.  Please complete the front page with the correct personal information.  Make sure that you and your child obey all the school rules.  Your child must have his/her diary in their bag every day.

LATE COMING:

We do ask that you make sure that your child is at school on time every day.  School starts at 07h40 (first bell).  We start with Period 1, and if your child is late they lose work.  Register period will be before break.

Late comers will be send home, so please make sure your child is on time.  The gates will be closed at 07h40.

INTER HOUSE ATHLETICS:

The primary school will be having their athletics on Thursday, 19 January here at school.  Learners must bring their school bags to school, because it will be a normal day if it is going to rain.

The high school will be having their athletics on Friday, 20 January here at school.  They must bring their school bags to school.  Normal school hours on both the days.

ATHLETICS AT DANIE MALAN: (Primary school only – only Athletes)

The Primary School Athletics team will be going to Laerskool Danie Malan on Thursday, 26 January 2017.  All the athletes will get a letter for the athletics meeting.  The programme of the day will be on the website available.  All other primary school learners will be in class until 14h00 and will go home as usual.

SCHOOL PHOTO DAYS:

30 January 2017Grade R & Grade 1
6 February 2017Grade 2, Grade 3 & Grade 4
7 February 2017Grade 5, Grade 6 & Grade 7
9 February 2017Grade 8 – Grade 12

Learners must be dressed according to school rules for the photo day.

Student council and junior leaders must have the correct uniform for the leader photo.

SCHOOL FEES:

All school fees must be paid by die 3rd of each month.  We will not be able to carry learners that did not pay school fees.  Registration and January 2017 school fees had to be paid already.  Parents that did not pay it yet will have to do so before Friday 20 January 2017 to avoid the space being cancelled.  All parents signed a contract that stipulate the rules and regulations regarding payment of fees clearly.  Therefore we will have to cancel the space if the fees are not up to date.

February 2017’s school fees must be paid by the 3rd of February 2017.

HOMEWORK:

All leaners get homework, and it is the responsibility of the parent to make sure that all homework will be done thoroughly every day.  That learners will study for tests and complete tasks and assignments.

GENERAL:

We hope and trust that you will have a wonderful year and that your child will excel in his/her grade.  We strive to do our best, but we always need the parents to help us.  Good luck for the year.
